For all Families
Choosing the right math tutor is an important decision. This FAQ page is for parents who want clear, straightforward answers about how tutoring with me works, what to expect from each session, and how I support students in grades 6 through Algebra 1, as well as ACT and ACCUPLACER Math Prep.
For Homeschool Families
I've been a homeschool mom since 2008. I understand how real life can shift the best-laid plans, especially when it comes to math. It's the subject that often tends to take a back seat when life gets hectic and busy. My tutoring approach fits naturally into homeschool routines, adding structure, accountability, and encouragement without taking away your flexibility. Whether you’re keeping pace or catching up, we’ll create a math plan that works with your rhythm, not against it.

Families can choose the option that fits their needs best. I offer:
* In-person sessions in my Fairhope, AL classroom, designed for focused, distraction-free learning.
* Online sessions via video conferencing, which many local families choose for added flexibility and convenience.
Both formats are structured, interactive, and tailored to your child’s individual needs.

Tutoring is designed to support your homeschool, not replace it. I work alongside the curriculum you’re already using, whether that means reinforcing current lessons, filling in gaps from earlier years, or helping your child apply skills more confidently.
My goal is to provide structure and consistency in math while respecting the flexibility that makes homeschooling work for your family.
Yes—many homeschool parents seek tutoring for this exact reason. Math can be stressful to teach, especially as concepts become more complex.
Tutoring allows me to take the lead on instruction, explanation, and practice, while you stay informed through session notes and progress updates. Parents often tell me this brings peace of mind and makes math a more positive part of their homeschool week.
Your tutoring fee includes more than just the time we spend together each week. It covers:
• One 50 minute one on one tutoring session, provided either in person or via secure video conferencing.
• Instructional planning and preparation outside of session time, based on the student’s curriculum, progress, and diagnostic data.
• A personalized IXL Math student account, provided at no additional charge. This account is used for diagnostic assessment, targeted skill practice, and ongoing progress monitoring.
• Parallel tutoring support, which includes reinforcing current school math lessons while also addressing any underlying foundational gaps identified through diagnostic tools.
• Session summary notes sent by email, including a brief overview of what was covered, recommended practice or assignments to be completed before the next session, and any relevant parent updates.
• Ongoing parent communication and consultation as needed regarding progress, concerns, or instructional planning.
Tutoring sessions are prepaid on a weekly basis. Invoices are sent out on Fridays, and payment is due by Monday morning, which allows the upcoming week’s sessions to be reserved and confirmed.
Payments can be made securely via Stripe or PayPal.
Getting started is simple and low-pressure. Begin by booking a free consultation. During this time, we’ll:
* Talk through your child’s current challenges, goals, and learning history
* Discuss scheduling options and determine which days and times work best for your family
* Decide together whether tutoring is a good fit and, if so, schedule your child’s first session
There’s no obligation to continue after the consultation—it’s simply a chance to ask questions and see if my approach is the right match for your child.
